The Prow of Trastevere
Trastevere means "across the Tiber," and this district has always lived that way: with its back to the power on the other bank, with its own saints, its own god of medicine, and an island shaped like a ship in the middle of the river. You'll count the sides of Rome's oldest fountain, hunt for a snake carved in stone, and look closely at a saint who has been sleeping in marble for centuries. It's about 3 km, flat, almost always by the water.
